Technical setup for writers who want local AI and optional cloud providers.
System requirements
- Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
- 8 GB RAM recommended for local AI models
- Internet required for sign-in, store catalog, and entitlement sync
Local AI with Ollama
Install Ollama, pull a model (e.g. llama3), and select it in Settings → AI Provider. Ollama runs on your PC — prompts do not pass through Second Quill servers.
Cloud AI providers
Add your own API keys in Settings for OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Anthropic. Keys are stored locally on your device.
Accounts & offline grace period
Sign in with Google or email. The app validates your entitlements online and caches them locally. You may work offline for up to 3 days after your last successful sign-in. See Terms of Use.
Activating purchases
After public launch, purchases through Lemon Squeezy will attach automatically to your account. During beta, use the free tier and bundled themes.
